This year to celebrate the Day of the Seafarer we have put together a video packed with interviews from our crews from some of the vessels under our management showing you a glimpse of their lives at sea.

Last year (2020), crews worldwide faced one of the toughest times at sea since the Second World War (1939–1945). They carried the world on their backs as the Covid-19 Pandemic forced the world into lockdown and relied on these men and women to keep the trade routes open and bring in vital supplies.

Currently, there are over 1.7 million seafarers serving…

We are pleased to welcome Carlos Pena, CTM’s Chief Commerical Officer (CCO) to the podcast for our latest episode to talk about CTM’s Supramax pool, the Supramax Revenue Sharing Agreement (RSA), which is the largest and most flexible Supramax pool in the market, the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and a brand new app that we have been developing over the past year.

Getting started in the industry

We wanted you to get to know more about our CCO during the half-hour interview, so we began by asking Carlos about how he got his start in shipping (the answer…

On the 22nd of April during Singapore’s Maritime Week at the “Singapore Shipping Forum 2021: Shipping Post Pandemic” conference, our CEO John Michael Radziwill was invited by Andrew Gallagher of Moore Stephens LLP to give a keynote speech.

Mr. Radziwill began his speech by paying homage and giving thanks to those who have been on the front lines in the fight against this pandemic for the past 15 months: doctors, nurses, delivery workers, supermarket employees and our seafarers. …

The environment and its protection are extremely important for CTM as our CEO Mr John Michael Radziwill has said countless times, including during our interview with him on our podcast and also at last year’s Posidonia where he said: “the environment is everything”.

So it shouldn’t come as a surprise that when His Serene Highness Prince Albert II and Monaco’s Mission for Energy Transition (MTE) created the National Energy Transition Pact CTM, at the end of last year, became one of the 150 businesses, institutions and associations to sign the Commitment Charter.

The Commitment Charter has 3 key priorities: transport

On the morning of Tuesday, 23rd of March 2021 traffic on the Suez Canal* ground to a halt. As the M/V Ever Given, a 20,150 teu container built in 2018, accidentally ran aground after she was hit by a “suspected large gust of wind”. She is now blocking the canal completely with ships unable to pass at all and it could take several days to get her moving again. She is the largest ship to ever go aground in the canal in its 152 year history.

The ship — which at 400 meters is almost as long as the Empire…

It’s been a good couple of weeks for dry bulk shipping, last week Panamax earnings hit decade highs of over $22,000 per day. This week it’s the turn of the Supramaxes to make headlines as they too hit decade highs.

Supramax spot rates reached $20,000 per day for the first time since 2010. The Baltic Supramax Index (BSI) jumped by over $7,200 per day since the beginning of the month (February) and earnings have more than tripled compared to the same period last year (2020). The BSI is beginning 2021 by having its own mini renaissance after hitting a four…

For the first episode of the CTM Podcast we had an exclusive interview with our CEO Mr. John Michael Radziwill. Last year Mr. Radziwill celebrated his 10th year as our CEO, during this interview we asked him about his views on the hot topics in shipping, his early career and what makes CTM a special place to work.

We have chosen some of the key areas that Mr. Radziwill bought up during our conversation with him for this blog entry.

During this interview one of the key areas’s that Mr. Radziwill emphasised was his passion for CTM and it…

At the beginning of 2020 we began our first photo competition with our crews, and we have received some truly breathtaking images from them. Getting them down to a top ten was no mean feat for us, everyone had their favourites and it inspired plenty of artistic debates, which for us at CTM was a refreshing change of pace. But we eventually got down to a selection for our people to vote on.

Following the results from start to finish was highly entertaining and at times nail-biting, eventually one photograph took a commanding lead. With around 38% of the vote…
