We at CTM are honoured to have been nominated for this year’s Crew Welfare Week’s Dry Bulk Operator Award organised by Safety4Sea.

So why should you cast your vote for us? Well under our management, we have over 1,100 seafarers, an average crew retention rate of 99% and alongside our manning agent Augustea Ship Manning in the Philippines, we ensure that our crews are trained to the highest standards possible. In 2021 our crews underwent over 127,000 hours of training and we managed to get over 950 crew members to embark/disembark from our vessels all over the world in locations including the Philippines, Ukraine, South Korea, Turkey, Egypt, and Brazil. We also make sure all our crews comply with the Australian Port Authority requirements which have the most rigorous conditions for entry.

The welfare system that Augustea tailored to our needs is a complete package and part of the reason why we chose them as our manning agent their system includes all the following benefits for our crews:

  • Health insurance for all crew and their families
  • A travelling allowance
  • Domestic ticket & hotel accommodation for our officers
  • STCW training & retraining at their in-house facility (Standards of Training, Certification & Watchkeeping)which is essential for anyone working on a commercial vessel over 24 meters in length
  • A scholarship program
  • Arrangement of Religious /Clergy visits on board and whatever else our crews need for their physical and mental wellbeing

This is what John Sykes our Chief Operations Officer had to say on the welfare system provided by Augustea “The satisfaction of the crews under our management is of the highest importance to us. Knowing that they can count on us to look after and provide them with what they need allows our crews to have the focus, drive and professionalism that our clients have come to expect.

With many of us at CTM having spent time at sea including our CEO we know how important it is for crews to be able to communicate with friends and family no matter where they are in the world this is why we now provide our crews with 3 Gigabytes of free data each month. Alongside this, we provide as many home comforts for our crews as possible so they can relax and enjoy their downtime including but not limited to karaoke machines, video game consoles and sporting equipment. We have also started to include our crews in our decision-making process by asking them to come up with ways that they can reduce their carbon footprint at sea and how we can make it easier for them to take care of the environment. We are constantly encouraging our crews’ creativity whilst at sea with initiatives like our annual photography competition. Our crews achieve all this whilst still helping CTM be one of the leading managers of dry cargo vessels today. Readers can vote for us by clicking the link below:
